White Rock Skies and Reflections

We are blessed to have lived near the hamlet of White Rock in B.C. for over thirty years, yet each time we walk on the pier or meander alongside the railroad tracks, I find myself charmed by it all over again...
.
My favourite time to visit is late afternoon, when the crowds thin out as people head home to cozy up by the fire after their wind-swept walks.
.
We've had an inclement spring so far in our part of the world, with more rain than usual and very cool days.  Disliking the heat, this has been perfect for me...more importantly, I love that the lingering clouds we seem unable to escape provide endless photo ops.
.
I was very glad I'd thrown my camera in the trunk for this recent visit, as was my husband...I've been known to whine horribly when glorious sunsets appear before me and I have only my eyes with which to record them!
.
I recently met two of my favourite blogging friends here for afternoon tea and had a splendid visit with them. Longtime lovers of White Rock, Kay and Penelope are only too familiar with the radiance that so often paints the sea and sky with a light that's almost magical. I took these shots with them in mind...I know they will nod in recognition upon seeing them and say, "Ah yes...that's our wonderful beach".
.
I am participating in two memes today, and you might like to check out these sites...

OMG that is a gorgeous sky!
I have friends who are from White Rock - I wonder if they might leave TO and retire back there?

Beautiful poetic photos! I'm not a fan of heat either. My wife and I were just talking about how the Pacific Northwest has our ideal climate.

The colours in these photos are exquisite. The photos feel elegant to me.

Oh, Lynette, what a treat, my beautiful White Rock!
I love photos of the pier, of course, with its lifetime of memories for me, and those clouds hovering over the islands in the first to pictures are wonderful, but I must say that last photo, with the two seagulls, is my favourite! It is exactly the view from the house on the beach where our friend Penelope lived when she and I first knew one another years ago.
And thank you so much for including links to our blogs. You are so thoughtful. I don't know when I'll be at the coast again, but you can be sure I'll let you know.

Oh what gloriously beautiful photos, beach and sky. Glorious! Next time I come to the city, I must manage a trip out to see you and we can go and watch the sunset through our camera lens - eyes are simply inadequate for recording purposes, when such beauty is afoot!!

I have taken many a picture down at White Rock, a lot of them here in my blog and some from some of the same spots as ones here! I love a long walk down the beach and then a bite to eat in one of the outdoor patios along the main road. Right now Charlie Don't Surf is one of my favorites! We buy our teas at Celestial Teapot too. It is a beautiful place to spend an afternoon!!

Thank you so much for mentioning Kay and I in this post, Lynette. You captured the luminosity of the bay area beautifully. I have often been mesmerized by the glimmer on the water and the golden hues of sun peeking through the ever-changing clouds. As your pictures show, no matter what the weather the horizon is always magical by the shore. :)
