Of all the things I’ve collected over the years, hearts have never been one of them. I have always found red to be a jarring colour, and had relegated heart shapes to the territory of Valentine’s cards and inexpensive chocolate boxes. Never a motif I used in any kind of artwork, it was clear hearts were not for me.
.
The Universe has decided to correct me on that! Wherever I go now, hearts find me, in spite of myself.
I came across my first heart rock in England a few years ago. I was visiting a cousin I had not seen since we were both children many decades in the past. In spite of the years and the geographical distance between us, I found myself completely at home with my cousin Michael. He was, quite simply, family, and I responded instinctively to that connection. He walked me down to the beach near his house and the first thing I came across was a tiny heart-shaped rock in the sand, just waiting for me to pick it up. Needless to say, it remains a favourite souvenir from that holiday.
.
From then on, hearts began to find me regularly.

A drawing in the sand, perhaps the work of a lovelorn teen…
A heart-shaped shell nestled into place, as if put there for ornamentation…
.
And this past weekend, a busy holiday for us here in British Columbia, I walked on a beach filled with hundreds of people along the length of it, and this beauty appeared at my feet...a perfect speckled heart, unnoticed or ignored by the many people who must have passed by until I came near. It would seem it was meant to be mine!
Clearly, I must surrender to the wisdom of the Universe!

Hearts find me everywhere…and then they follow me home.
Apparently, I do collect them, after all!

This is so amazing. It is something I didnt know about you. But in the years I lived in Tofino, heart rocks found me everywhere too. I had a whole bunch of them in my office at work. No one else seemed to "see" them but they lay in my path all the time. Since I left there, I have never found a single heart rock.
I am amazed at your bottom photo - were all of those heart rocks placed just like that, waiting for you? So cool. I believe when we are in touch, in tune, flowing with, that is when we find them - or they find us! Cool post!
I love it when things like this happen, and that granite stone heart is really special!
That speckled one is so perfectly heartshaped!! I had started noticing them on blogs and then a friend from church showed me her collection, but I had never found any. Then on our recent trip to California I found one on the beach. I was so pleased. I also found two pieces of sea glass like those I've admired on a few blogs. I guess I'll be starting new collections til my dying day!
So pretty...I found my first one last year - (at an estate sale - is that cheating??) I'll have to start paying attention outside; yours are inspiring!
Thanks for stopping by my blog!

I don't think you collect hearts. I think hearts collect you!
These are fab pictures and love your hearts. Annette
All your natural hearts are wonderful! Sometimes love can be found in the most unexpected places. :)

Good Morning Lynette,
That is definately a keeper...a very special find. Sometimes in my Basic Foods class, when we are dividing out the ingredients to make our delcicious Potato Soup, I find a potato that looks just like a heart. I get so excited...and the kids look at me like I'm nuts!! (Remember I teach High School)
Anyway, perhaps I'm going to take a picture the next time...because it must be a sign...whether in a leaf or a shell or a beautiful rock...or a vegetable...
Have a thoughtful Thursday, ~Natalie
I love that nature has found a way to bring you the heart. :-)
What a beautiful collection, they definitely found you for a reason
I love the magic of seeing hearts in nature! I seem to see them in flowers! What a unique
collection! How heartfelt is your post~
Wow, that is amazing and so synchronistic. I love that you not only keep finding them but that you're open to it. Sometimes, I believe, that's half the battle to all the miracles that are around us.
The laws of attraction work like magic, don't they? Whether they seek you, or are sent to you, you are the common denominator. Something positive about you draws the hearts :-))
I'm so glad you pointed me to this post.
Peaceful day,
Julia~
