While I don’t often do cut flowers - preferring to see them blooming with life - I seem to have acquired a number of floral vases and pots, particularly those with an iris motif. I thought White Wednesday would be a good chance to dust them off and thrust them into the sunshine for a moment of glory!
.I chose the large, rounded vase for my mother-in-law on her birthday one year. She loved flowers and kept it filled most of the time. It is stamped ‘Kaiser of West Germany, designed by K. Nossek’.
.
The cylindrical vase is by Sadler of England, and became my mother’s favourite as soon as I gave it to her. Of course, I only saw it with flowers in it when I gave them to her…otherwise, it was put away in the cupboard, to be kept for ‘good’!
.The other pieces are thrift store finds and none cost more than a dollar or so each..
.
This delightful little piece has flowers front and back and was made by Medley of San Francisco.
The ginger jar and small pitcher are made in Japan, and the two plant pots have no marks to incicate their origin.
.
I love the little vase below marked pulmonaria obscura. It is stamped, ‘Arabia Finland. Design by Esteii Tomula’

Like so many of our collectables, monetary consideration has very little to do with why we cherish them. These pretty pieces make me smile, and that is more than enough reason to place them on my window sill to admire...

Oh I love this lovely collection. Irises are my favorite flower:)So nice you have the vases that you had given to your mother and mother-in-law........must be lovely to remember their pleasure at the gift. I must come visit and see WHERE you house all your collections - I am curious:) White Wednesdays are fun!
Lovely vases! They DO just seem to accumulate, don't they?
Together, all lined up, they create a little flower bed on your window sill. A really sweet collection. I love irises too, Lynette. My Grandmother had beautiful beds of the big bearded ones.
Happy WW :-)
These treasures are so beautiful. And I love the sentiment behind the two for your Mothers... I have a few vases with painted flowers and I prefer to display them with NO flowers in them, I find they have their own beauty as they are... I agree on the flowers in the garden, I TOO have prefer to leave them for my daily strolls, BUT in the early spring and summer the PEONIES come in in "armfuls" especially if rain is predicted.
Thank you for sharing your gorgeous treasures with us.
Your vases are so pretty. I love iris. You have such a nice collection and I like the ones that have meaning to them. Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment on my blog!

Nice line up of vases-Happy WW!
Great collection - soo soft and sweet looking - nice pieces!
What a lovely collection, Lynette! One of the first corsages I ever received from a boy was one with irises. I felt SO grownup! ;-) And you're right, some of my favorite finds have absolutely nothing to do with monetary value. But finding them at a great price makes them all the sweeter.
Just checking in from my blog break and plan to be back blogging full time in September. Lots going on here demanding my attention. Life can be a jealous mistress at times. ;-)
Have a wonderful week...
XO,
Sheila :-)
