Known as Red Rock Country, Sedona, Arizona is one of the most remarkable spots to be found in the U.S. A small and cozy town, it abounds with art-filled shops and warm people. A day’s visit is not enough…one could spend weeks wending down rugged dusty trails, visiting the many galleries and museums, and exploring its metaphysical
possibilities.
possibilities.
.
.
Long recognized as a sacred site, Sedona is said to contain four vortex points whose concentrated energies are conducive to meditation, prayer and healing. If one remains open and accepting, the palpable energy that charges the air can revitalize a tired spirit and renew one’s joy.
.
Another sacred space in Sedona is The Chapel of The Holy Cross, built right into the high rocks that overlook the valley below. In this land of bright red sandstone, wide-open sky and sweltering heat, stepping into this chapel is to experience instant peace and a clear sense of spirituality, no matter what your religious beliefs may encompass.

I have rarely experienced the
complete sense of ease that
came upon me whilst I sat quietly
in this small chapel.

My thoughts stilled, my body
relaxed, and I was able to
simply be in the moment
…not a condition we experience
often enough in our
technologically driven
world.

Incredible 'dramatic' shots.
Wowzers! I felt some of that peace just reading about it. The cliffs and the glass structure built into it are so magnificent........best place ever for a church!!!!!!
What a wonderful church! Wow!
That is a spectacular chapel! I'd like to visit it some day.
Wonderful, Lynette. We saw this chapel from the road but were with a tour group and didn't have a chance to go inside.
How I would have loved to experience what you found there.

Beautiful!
Beautiful photography, Lynette and truly serene and peaceful. Have a wonderful week. Blessings,Jo
Sedona is a beautiful place, Lynette. Jerry and I stayed there in the early 2000s and saw the chapel, too...it is very peaceful. We went on a Pink Jeep tour and saw lots of ancient pictographs and cave dwellings. Beautiful photos!
Well I'm not generally a church fan, but that is one amazing piece of architecture!
Beautiful! :)
Wow! Beautiful photos and now I'm longing to spend a few weeks exploring the beauty of that area! Hope you have a great week :)
Amazing photos, lovely companion text.

Hi Lynette!
Want to know something strange? My wife is making reservations at an RV park near Sedona at this very moment. What a shock to open your post and there it is!
Sedona is one of my absolute favorite places on earth. We talk about moving there from time to time. I did serveral photo posts last sept/oct on the place. We're heading back there again in a couple of months.
Great photos!
A special building with special shadows. Fantastic photos.
