Leafy Shadows

I love everything about the Fall, from its crisp, cool air laced with the scent of wood-smoke to the brilliant array of colours our Canadian forests take on
as September works its magic
on the painted landscape.

.
This is that perfect time when the old resides with the new. I can catch the russet hues of maple leaves pulling on their winter coats, or capture the quiet green cloaks many plants still wear since pulling them on in the spring.

It is a brief interlude...a respite of short days, before long, chilly nights and cool winds cause my beloved leaves to curl up tightly into themselves,
and become mere shadows of their former glorious selves.

.
In the face of impending and inevitable change, my camera and I do our part to capture the beauty of the changing Autumn landscape. Turn away for a moment, and it will be winter, with its own charms and challenges.
.
The cyle of seasons is cause for celebration no matter which mantle Mother Nature dons, and I will always be there with my vain attempts to capure that breathtking beauty.
.
As if such wonder could really be contained...

Love your leaves and shadows..........this is such a lovely feast, always some new breath-taking beauty to view at the mnere click of the mouse! Wonderful photos, as always, Lynette! I love fall so much - the trip you need to make in October is through Summit Pass to the sea, the colors are always spectacular. Use my place as a crash pad and bring your camera:)

So very beautiful! Fall is definitely starting here too. I welcome the change, but am sad to lose my Summer flowers. Bittersweet. Kit

The colours of fall and the cooler days are some of my favorite parts of the coming fall. We have had such a dry and hot summer that the leaves are already turning. And falling. The rain we have had is a nice respite from the heat.
I am just down the road from you in Abbotsford. I'll be out too recording the colours and sights!!

Such breathtaking captures of the leaves, Lynette! We've had very little real summer this year and while I love the fall colors and that time of year, I'm not quite ready for it this year. Lovely post for the day! Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Beautiful shots. I especially love the first one. I'm a big fan of taking shots of fallen leaves! Fall hasn't arrived here yet. But I can almost smell it in the air. Enjoy the day.

Not only do you take wonderful photos, but you also write beautifully. Fall is my favorite season. My favorite used to be spring but we have such a short, short spring these days and the summer weather is so hot, I have begun to look forward to each new fall. Hubby took me out driving in the country to get some practice on my new camera. Not much to photograph but did get a few good ones. Happy Labor Day weekend!

These are such stunning shadow shots! I love them all! I'm not a huge fan of the temps of autumn as I much prefer warm weather but I do think it's the prettiest of all the seasons :)

Lynette,
This is really beautiful. I saw you comment on Lynn's blog and felt moved to respond. I, too, have fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue (and now a very arthritic knee). Wr are heading for Prague and Croatia on Sunday and I just wish I felt better! I also wish I could get out of this self-blame for it all!
Sending you best wishes and I will be back!
