Thursday Think Tank: Market Day

Cool to the touch,
succulent flesh
yields grudgingly
to hands that
reach out and
grasp in need.
.
.
Fingers stroke
soft, lush skin...
imagining how
lips might also
trail across this
naked pleasure.
.
Were you mine
my tongue would
taste your juice,
would savour
each fragrant drop
of sweetness.
.
Come to me…
my eager mouth
will not rest
‘til I am sated
on the repast
of your love.

.
I’m amused to watch the care with which discerning shoppers choose their fruit. They sniff, peer, probe and stroke…no detail is overlooked by those who seek the very best. I find myself wondering if their loved ones are afforded the same intense level of consideration that the dewy peach takes as its due!

When I saw that Poets United Thursday Think Tank prompt was, "Market Day", this piece came to mind. For more takes on the theme, check out the link below...

  1. Delightfully done, Lynette. I read a lot of not-very-good poetry online, but you are the real deal.
It's been so long since I wrote anything beyond a limerick (a bow to your Irishness) that I would be embarrassed to submit a poem to anyone. Every now and then I send some publisher a poem I wrote nearly 50 years ago, but no one ever wants to print it. LOL

  4. Terrific, Lynette. The double entendre is seductive and your epilogue explanation as intriguing as the piece. I tend to agree!

  5. LOLOL Delisciously decadant... Hehe

Yes, we did indeed think along the same lines... I am still addicted to chocolate, too. So, I have to try never to buy it..unless my resolve weakens and... I succumb.

Loved this ... :) I love being naughty/sensual with any use of bad language or porn at all. It's all in the reader's mind that 'sees' what it wishes to see, right? :)
