Said the spider to the fly,
“Come and visit me, big guy!
I’m a gal who’ll make you smile,
If you’ll only stay a while.
And of course I mean no harm…
I’m the epitome of charm!!”

Today's optional word in Succinctly Yours is 'expedient', and while I didn’t actually use it in the piece, my wily spider exercises expediency in her approach to every meal!

I apologize for the spider pic if it creeps you out. I'm one of the few folk I know who truly like creepy-crawlies of all sorts. Wait....I don't know anyone but me who does...how odd!!

ReplyDeleteHappy Fourth of July.
Spider
on the wall
brown and hairy
small and scary
Eight quick legs
two pinchers'
weave a web
stick quick home
Flitting fly
mesmerized
lands to climb
cannot move
cries and cries
Wanna be
a spider
or a fly
Expedient
choices
live or die
Spiders! Ew. But you wrote a happy verse about her. Those hairy legs! Ack! I have just moved out of Spiderville, thankfully, so far no spiders over here:)
ReplyDeleteI am not very keen on spiders, but they are useful for the expedient removal of flies I suppose. Good MF!
ReplyDeleteI expect the smile would be very big as she wrapped him up in silk!

Hope all is good Lynette.
Going back to our old city for a few days at the end of July...
Best wishes, Eileen
Yes, the spider pic creeped me out a bit, but your poem made me laugh!
ReplyDeleteYes, the spider pic did creep me out a wee bit, but I loved your poem--excellent rhymes and meter! So clever!
ReplyDeleteThank you for your comments, Lynette...I've been negligent about visiting blogs for the past week.
