Weekend Reflections and SkyWatch Friday: B.C.

Some time ago we motored north up the coast of Vancouver Island to spend an afternoon with a much-loved aunt.
.

On this cold and drizzly weekend, I took uncommonly few shots, deterred by the dampness that settled into my bones - and my camera - each time I stepped outside.
.
I expected little of the photos, but once copied to the computer, decided they told a tale of life on our rainforest shoreline and might be worth sharing.
.
Artists like Onley and Markgraf have used the same cool grays and blues to depict our mountains, so often enshrouded with cloud...water reflecting back the weak sun as it attempts to break through.
.
While I in no way liken my work to theirs, I do hope these shots impart at least a little of the mystery and magic this province weaves around the hearts of those who love it.

  3. Oh, so pretty! Love the puddle too. I keep eyeing up one down the road but never have my camera with me walking home from work when I see it...

  4. Maybe I'm just glad I don't feel the dampness, but that first shot is breathtaking!

  6. Ah … I love the misty grays and blues around our coastline, Lynette. You caught the hues well and the water is so luminous. How lovely also to discover the sky clouds captured in the water of your last photo!

  7. What a beautiful island environment, Lynette. I can feel the cool moisture in your gray/blue photos. Absolutely lovely. I hope you had a delightful visit with your much-loved aunt.

Tomorrow (Friday), Jerry and I are going to the 70th wedding anniversary of his dear aunt (his dad's sister) and uncle. They were about 18 and 19 when they were married. They are so sweet and in love--still live in their own home, are sharp as can be and very active in their church and community. I love Jerry's relatives. His dad was one of 6 children and his mom was one of 9 children, so he has lots of aunts, uncles and cousins.

    Have a wonderful weekend!

  22. A perfect description of the Pacific Northwest, on either side of the border. Magical and mysterious it can be -- but cold and damp and hard on the old bones too ;>).... your pictures show the best side of a misty day!
