To my great delight, we had daily storms on our road trip to Utah last year. They would arrive suddenly and pass just as quickly, leaving behind rivulets of water rushing down the arroyos to form small pools where none usually lay.
Eagerly, I would take as many shots as I could before the hot sun dried the soil and turned it to soft red dust once more....

I just love that first photo...so colorful and that reflection perfectly portrays the contrasting elements of desert and water. I've never been in a desert, but here in the South we certainly have enough red clay!
ReplyDeleteThe colors of the earth are beautiful and show where that beautiful pottery color originates.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful colors of red earth and blue sky, and that's a perfect reflection of the trees in the fourth photo!
ReplyDeleteWe have red clay soil here in the foothills, too, though it's mixed in with slate. We have some acquaintances who made their own adobe bricks from the clay on their property and used them to build their house! Our county's building code even includes specifications for adobe brick houses, since that's what many of California's first buildings were made of.
So beautiful! Your photography is, as always, amazing. I love getting a glimpse of the big world out there through your photos. An inexpensive and comfy way to travel:)
