I is for Island

We're fortunate to have been invited  by my husband's family to spend   long weekends this summer at their  cabin on Thetis Island.

I will write more about their lovely home, (cabin may not be the best descriptive word!),
and their generous, outgoing natures in a later post.

However, as I seem to be tardy posting of late, I am including just a few of the small touches that charmed me on the island visits.

The sweet window box and weathered red bench are just a few of the special touches that dot their property at every turn of the path.

I am always
delighted by
 the Arbutus trees that
grow in the
dry southeast
regions of
Vancouver Island
and the
Gulf Islands.

The photographer in
 me goes mad at the
colour and
texture
of its bark.

I have very few
 people pictures
of those weekends,
but numerous shots
 of
Arbutus trees!

My favourite time of the day has always been twilight....it takes on a magical quality while snuggled into a chaise lounge on this deck, watching the sun make its final descent behind the mountains.

I will write more about our visit soon, but am now linking this to ABC Wednesday, a wonderful même that showcases photos from around the world. Do pop in for a peek...

Sigh. So beautiful - the chaise longue on the deck? Oh my! I would never get out of it, once in! Such a view. Such charming little touches everywhere on these wonderful west coast islands, where the residents are so in tune with their environment. Lovely. Any chance you'd be allowed to winter there? hee hee! (I'd visit!!)

Oh this place is phenomenol. Every inch so inviting, the chaise lounge, the weathered gate. The Arbutus is a tree I've never seen, it is quite lovely. I will have to research it.
