F is for Fear

I think everyone needs a healthy dose of fear.

Fear helps keep us safe...fear is what warns us something              ahead will be difficult, even dangerous.

It prepares us to weigh the risks and decide if we will choose to continue on our path in spite of lingering doubts.

I've begun to think I should invite a greater level of caution into my life

Bose Farm, Surrey, B.C.

Physical fears are common...a fear of heights and snakes, for instance. Such things are relatively easy to deal with if you shun high places and areas where snakes might slither out to you.

That said, I saunter into those situations without giving it a thought.

( Me enjoying it..my sister, Nikki, not so much!)

Another rule of thumb might be to respect No Entry and Danger signs, such as those found on the ramshackle ruins of dilapidated buildings. Any of my regular readers know that such signs inexorably suck my husband and I in to find out what is worth warning us about.

The one fear I truly respect is my fear of confinement.

I simply could not bear to be locked up.

I'm sure it's that which keeps me honest, more than any ethical or moral standard!

In view of my age and maturity, I've decided to develop a more measured approach to life...make a conscious effort to avoid danger in situations that promise it.

 Northern Utah

Of course, that would mean no more trespassing on abandoned ranches,  or getting as close to the edge of cliffs as I'm able to.

 Cliffs of Moher, Ireland

Hmmm...I'll believe I'll have to discuss this plan with my partner-in-crime and get back to you on that!

Okay, you're already sounding bored by not being able to swoon at cliff's-edge, so am thinking it might be a while yet before a yellow Caution sign appears on your forehead, hee hee. Those cliffs are astonishing, must have been so wonderful to be right there. Love all your photos, always.

ROFL, I have pictures of my feet hanging over those cliffs, from the bit down where you're not meant to go, that you have to climb over the wall to get to... I'm younger than you though, I've got longer before I have to be cautious, right? ;o) I'm fully expecting to be trespassing in Utah too...

So many rules and shoudn't's in this civilized society....Now what were rules made for? A bit of bending.....
I know your post was tongue-in-cheek, but I know some folks who are so afraid of everything that they can barely do anything!
by the way, I love you pics, espec. the rope bridge - Now I AM afraid of that!

So I am ferocious - I need to preface my following comment with that....F E R O C I O U S! However, I am not much for snakes, although "she" has no problem with the harmless ones. The rope bridge....no way in catfood land would you get either of us on that thing! And the edge of a cliff....."she" would faint away and is terrified of those edges! Me? Well if I do the edges of tree branches, is that the same thing??? See, told you I'm ferocious >^,,^<

Love your photos, Zoe and mew!

Oh wow … that picture of you on the swinging bridge is amazing, Lynette. You look like you’re having a blast! When it comes to walking on rope bridges and/or fear in general, balance seems to be the key. :)

You are far more adventurous that I am! Walking close to edge of a cliff is NOT for me, and bridges that sway make me seasick, I fear. However, I DO enjoy the great photos others make when they are brave enough to venture into scary places. :)

Sorry to be so late in my visit!

I love your approach to the post and to life. I too, love abandoned buildings. But not the edges of high cliffs!

Lovely images!

Oh come now...you must have exhibited some form of caution all these years to still be here and talking about it! I hope this new view on things doesn't take out all the fun in your life! ;) Great pics as always! :)
